BJP today got a boost in Kutch district when Congress leader in Gandhidham municipality Bhavesh Achayara, husband of sitting Congress MLA Nimaben Acharya joined the saffron party along with five other corporators.

Acharya's shifting of loyalty comes close on the heels of his wife Nimaben representing the Anjar assembly seat in state assembly, dashing off a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi stating that "her foreign origin issue has made a firm place in people's mind in favour of BJP."

The MLA had stirred the hornet's nest in Gujarat Congress when she, in her letter had urged Gandhi to refrain from contesting the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Acharya, in a statement released by BJP said: "It was not possible to work for Congress party due to several differences at various levels."

He said: "It is no honesty to oversee the development works done by BJP, merely because I am a Congressman. One cannot but help notice the pace of Gujarat's development during last five years."

Acharya also praised Kutch MP Pushpadaan Gadhvi for his contribution in developing the region.
