Six detonators recovered from Mahabubnagar district in AP

City police on Sunday recovered six small electric detonators on the Gadwal-Aiza route in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh following a phone call from an unknown person.

City police on Sunday recovered six small electric detonators on the Gadwal-Aiza route in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh following a phone call from an unknown person.

The caller, also called up the state minister for Information and Public Relations D K Aruna (who hails from Mahabubnagar district) and the Gadwal police stating that some persons had planted landmines on a road near Gadwal, a senior police officer said.

The police and the bomb squad personnel rushed to the area and found the small electric detonators kept on the road-side which was connected with wire placed in nearby bushes, Mahabubnagar District Superintendent of Police Sudhir Babu.

"It's not as such a serious matter. No explosive was found from the site. The act was only to create some panic. However, we have registered a suo-moto case," he added.

Aruna, who frequently travels to Mahbubnagar had on Saturday attended the 'Rachabanda' (mass contact programme ) meet.

Gadwal Police have a registered a case under the relevant sections of the Explosives Substances Act and are further investigating the matter.
