Six slum children make it to School of Excellence

SIX POOR students adopted by `Arpan Society?, an NGO working for uplift of slum children, have been selected for admission to Class IX at the Subhash School of Excellence through an entrance exam.Children, securing above 55 per cent in the VIII Board exams, were identified by Arpan and provided special tuition all through the summer vacations to prepare them for entrance exam of the School of Excellence.

All six students not only got through the test, but also secured positions in the merit list, an Arpan release said. Arpan will bear the full cost of tuition fees for all six children that include two girls whose mothers are widowed.

Sudarshana Khanna and Shefali Wattal are sponsoring a child each while Teri Das of London and Anshu Vaish have also volunteered to finance these children. Wing Commander (Retd) R K Tiwari provided coaching to these students free of cost, the release said.
