In a statement issued here on Sunday, a spokesman of PDP said the statement of the chief minister on slapgate was nothing but mere eyewash to hide the matter under carpet and to save his arrogant minister.

Spokesman said the minister had slapped a senior officer in full public view and later supporters of ministers had given a severe thrashing to him without any reason.

He said this unfortunate episode had exposed arrogance among the ministers. He regretted that instead of taking action against the erring minister, the chief minister has just expressed his displeasure over the episode. “What is the message that the chief minister wants to give by protecting his minister who has slapped a senior officer?” he asked.

The PDP spokesman said the chief minister had become morally weak and political paralysed so he was not in a position to take action against his ministers.
