The deceased has been identified as Janki Devi, while her three children were Bharat (2), Sanjay (4) and Tannu (7), all residents of Baiyanpur Khurd village of Sonepat district.

However, Devi's husband Raju, a taxi driver, claimed that his wife and three children had gone to collect fodder for animals from fields and might have died while crossing the railway track.

Police said they swung into action after the Sachkhand Express train driver informed them about the accident near Sundepur village, located on the outskirts of Sonepat town.

Police said they had registered a suicide case into the incident.
