Sonia visits fire scene, hospitals in Meerut

At least 50 people were killed and over 100 injured when the fire ravaged a consumer goods fair in Meerut.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday visited the scene of the devastating fire in Victoria Park in Meerut and the hospitals where those injured in the blaze have been admitted.

Sonia, who was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal and UPCC chief Salman Khursheed, inquired about the well being of those injured in the devastating fire.

"We have been to the hospitals. We have seen those who were injured, some of them are very badly injured," the Congress President said.

"The doctors have explained to us what treatment they are giving," she said.
