Soz writes to Kamal Nath

Demanding stable drinking water supply for residents of Baramulla, former union minister and president J&K Pradesh Congress Committee Saifuddin Soz has written to union minister of urban development Kamal Nath to look into the matter.

Calling Baramulla a historic town, which falls under the urban infrastructure development for small and medium towns (UIDSSMT), a government of India scheme, Saifuddin Soz wrote that under the scheme, a proposal for drinking water supply to Baramulla was sent to the union ministry of urban development, three years ago for an allocation of Rs 63 crore, but the same has not been undertaken.

"The scheme stands approved, but has not been undertaken due to non-availability of funds.

The scheme envisages undertaking, lift water supply scheme with river Jehlum as source," read his statement. "I have made a strongly plea with the union urban development minister to provide funds for implementation of this scheme, immediately. "I hope the ministry's response will be positive," he added.
