The Spain team has last eight consecutive World Cup appearances in their kitty, that, being the only feather in the team's cap.
Since, even after regular appearances, the squad did not manage to move above the fourth place they secured in the 1950 Brazil Football World Cup.
Due to lack of guidance and experience of the young players, the team has not been able to achieve the desired world rankings.
Even star players like, Raul Gonzalez, Fernando Morientes, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Asier del Horno and El Niño Torres, have not been able to procure long-term achievements.
The team got a heavy blow when they were pushed for a play-off match against Slovakia to attain a place in Germany 2006.
Though they remained unbeatable yet, the number of draws held them from gaining a direct entry into the finals.
