ST MICHAEL’S Cricket Academy today entered the next round after defeating Basera Club in the All India Mayank Chaturvedi Memorial Cricket Tournament being organised at the Old Campion Grounds. Shahab Khan was declared HT Man of the Match.

After a remarkable performance in the All India Manish Agnihotri Memorial Cricket Tournament in the recent past, St Michael’s team was ready to script another success story in the Mayank Chaturvedi Memorial Cricket Tournament. However, the start for St Michael’s was not good in their first tie after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

The team lost five top batsmen for just 96 runs on the scoreboard. But the gutsy inning by HT Man of Match Shahab Khan brought the team back into the game. He played an important 74 run inning. His inning saw 3 sixes and four boundaries.

With the help of his responsible knock, St Michael’s piled up 215 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 40 overs.

In reply, Basera team’s upper order crumbled. When the team was heading for a defeat without any fight, Sameer Vyas and Sameer Kirkit played a memorable inning of 63 and 32 respectively. But the luck favoured St Michael’s team as the opponent fell short of the target by 3 runs.

After an excellent batting, Shahab Khan entertained the spectators through his lethal bowling as he scalped three wickets.
