Stalemate continues over quota

A 7-member docs' team met Pranab to demand complete rollback of proposal.

The stalemate over the strike of medicos continued with resident doctors sticking to their demand of complete rollback of proposed OBC quotas in higher educational institutions at a meeting with Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

A seven-member delegation which met Mukherjee, Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and Union Minister Oscar Fernandes was persistent with its demand for a complete rollback of the proposed OBC quotas, setting up of a non-political judicial commission for review of the existing reservation policy and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's intervention in the matter.

"We are persisting with our demands of rollback of proposed 27.5 per cent OBC quotas in educational institutions," Dr Harsh, a representative of 'Youth For Equality' told reporters after meeting the Union Ministers.
