From this year, the varsity authorities have introduced changes that will not only negate the requirement of ‘name corrections’ after the examinations, but also make it impossible for a candidate to impersonate an examinee and sit for the exams on his or her behalf.

“Every year, a large number of complaints are received that the of name of either the candidate or the guardian is misspelt with requests for corrections.

This takes a lot of our time and also causes hardship to the students. So, from this year, we are introducing a new arrangement of providing a declaration form along with the admit card,” said AU exam controller Prof HS Upadhyaya.

He said if a student’s name or that of his father was misspelt or incorrectly printed, the student would have to submit the declaration form and only then would he be issued the admit card. “If a student later claims that the name was printed incorrectly and requests for correction, his request will not be entertained,” he said.

He further said with the help of the declaration form, the varsity would carry out the correction process and amend its record.

“Following in the footsteps of the Public Service Commission, we too have decided to mention the exam subject, its date and place of exam on the admit card itself for the benefit of the students. Even if the date of the exam is changed due to some reason, the place and time will remain the same,” he said.

The varsity has decided to introduce computerised attendance sheets that the students would have to sign at the time of the exam. “The attendance sheet will also have a scanned image of the student’s picture as pasted on his or her admit card. This will enable the teacher on duty to check on the spot whether or not the bonafide examinee is sitting for the exam,” he added.
