Referring to a newspaper report, Samiti spokesman, Shailendra Dubey said taking a tough stand against a defiant Reliance Energy Ltd (REL) having management control over three distribution companies, the Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission has initiated proceedings against the distribution licensees for suspension of licence.
The commission, according to Dubey, had prima facie found the REL guilty of violating terms and conditions of the distribution licence.
The Commission has suspended company’s licences for all the three discoms and appointed an administrator for each of licensee to discharge the functions, he said. Dubey said private companies’ only interest was to earn profit and demanded that the power sector must continue under government control for larger public interest.
