Stress on reviewing education system in the country

He was delivering the valedictory address of the 43rd orientation course at UGC-Academic Staff College in Banaras Hindu University here on Wednesday.
He said the responsibilities of the intellectual class had increased in the wake of changing social conditions in the country. He said teachers were required to encourage students to ask them questions and also do away with what was wrong in society. He suggested to the teachers to encourage the culture of curiosity among students.
“Teachers should inculcate a sense of democratic spirit and train them to resist what is wrong,” he said, adding instead of promoting a plurality approach, the teachers should inculcate a democratic spirit among students.
“In a democratic country, anyone who possesses intellect should have the courage to resist and question any thing that is wrong,” he added.
Prof Bajpai also released the proceedings of the ‘Orientation Course’ and distributed certificates to the participants.
Banaras Hindu University Rector, Prof S Lele presided over the valedictory function and exhorted the participating teachers to always try to update their knowledge for better communication with their students.
Earlier, Director of UGC-Academic Staff College, Prof Kumar Pankaj delivered the welcome address whereas course coordinator Dr SK Tiwari presented the report of the course.
Course coordinator MK Chaudhary proposed a formal vote of thanks.
Around 30 teachers of different colleges and universities from across the country participated in the orientation course.
