ABOUT 400 students ransacked the records room and set afire important documents at the Adrash Inter College, in Batoti near Mati in Kanpur Dehat today. The incident took place after the students came to know that UP Board High School examination forms had not been sent to the relevant authorities for issuing admit cards.

For the last five days, students of Adrash Inter College had been making rounds of the school to collect admit cards for the UP Board High School examination, which begins tomorrow.

Whenever the students enquired about their documents, they were told a concocted story for the delay. However, when the students turned up to get their cards today, they got to hear the same excuse. At this, the students lost patience and forced the school authorities to divulge the real story.

When they came to know that due to differences between the principal and the management their examination forms could not be submitted to the concerned authorities, the students turned violent.

They broke open the main gate, rushed into the campus and reached the record room. They set the room on fire, in which several important documents were damaged. The mob also destroyed almost 15 tin-shade rooms.

Later, cops from the Shivali police station reached the spot and dispersed the students. Sources said the situation was under control, but tension prevailed in the area.
