The Ghaziabad police on Sunday suspended a sub-inspector (SI) for allegedly molesting a 23-year-old woman on Tuesday night in Sahibabad area.
The Ghaziabad police on Sunday suspended a sub-inspector (SI) for allegedly molesting a 23-year-old woman on Tuesday night in Sahibabad area.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said the incident occurred while the victim, along with her colleagues, was returning from work in a cab. The accused intercepted the vehicle and asked the driver to get down.
"He then started abusing the victim and molested her in front of her colleagues. Later, he forcibly took her phone number and started making lewd calls to her," the SSP said.
The victim, a resident of Sundar Nagri area, later lodged a complaint with the SSP.
An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Officials said the SI was earlier involved in a case of sending lewd SMSes to a Delhi University student last year.
"His name had figured in another incident last year for allegedly making advances towards a DU student and sending her lewd SMSes," the SSP said.
A case under Section 354 of the IPC was registered at Sahibabad police station.
