Three suicide cases rocked the city on Monday. While the reason for one of them was failure to find a cure from protracted illness, the other case was related to sudden aggression. The reason for the third case could not be ascertained so far.

Whatever might be the reason, the psychiatrists have sounded alarm bells for the citizens to beware as any one of their relatives might be the next victim.
The psychiatrists feel that suicide cases are becoming the greatest menace these days and the graph of such cases is unfortunately on the rise in the city. "Committing suicide is nothing new.
But the cause of taking such an extreme step has surely changed. If earlier people committed suicide on account of illness, depression, acknowledging themselves as burden for the family, then today the scenario is utterly different," said Dr Kamlesh Tiwari, psychiatrist.
"Today people commit suicide to make others grieve. They feel that others will feel crestfallen if they die. Another thought that strikes the mind is that others are having a negligent approach towards the victim, or sometimes people are also under the impression of being badly treated by others.
Inability to satisfy one's need also leads to fatalistic approach towards oneself.
Some people also take the step to obtain sympathy. It should be noted that such feelings are mere thoughts and they have no relation whatsoever with the reality," added Dr Tiwari.
Dr Tiwari also categorised the people with suicidal tendencies. There are many who commit suicide in a planned way. "People should start seeking the advice of a psychiatrist for the person who is eager to learn more about the pros and cons of committing suicide, seeks advice regarding the methods suitable to end life etc and such things should not be shrugged off as a joke. There are many who take the step all of a sudden while there are others who adopt the idea from movies etc," he said.
"Parents and relatives of those under depression should be aware of the fact that a person never commits suicide before sounding his or her intentions.
Coming across such statements, the kinsmen must start taking such person seriously and be more sensitive towards him or her. The best way is to seek the help of the psychiatrist as proper counselling is necessary in this regard," added Dr Tiwari.
According to Dr Tiwari, committing suicide is becoming a sort of fashion among the youngsters, especially those above 16 years.
Besides, children are sometimes awed with the scenes they watch in the movies. The fact should be ingrained in their minds that life is precious and whatever they see on silver screen is untrue," he stated.
Dr Tiwari confirmed of attending to at least two to four cases per month of those who approach him to get rid of their suicidal tendencies.
