Last year in December, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had filed a chargesheet alleging that Prakash Singh Badal, his wife Surinder Kaur Badal and son Sukhbir Singh Badal had amassed assets vastly disproportionate to their known sources of income when Badal was in power.
The Badal family dismissed the allegation calling it an absurd political vendetta. While his father Prakash Singh Badal filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Sukhbir hit back strongly denying the charges.
