Uma Shankar Rahi, spokesperson of Vatsalya Gram, said real-estate builder Laljibhai Badshah or Laljibhai Patel made this announcement at Vatsalya gram in Vrindavan, promising that the amount would be used for the girls’ marriage.

“Laljibhai Patel has announced a donation of Rs 200 crore for 10,000 girls. A function would be organised in Surat from March 13 to 20, during which a Badhshah Sukanya Bond would be issued to the second daughter born in a Patidar family,” said Uma Shankar Rahi.

He said an amount of Rs 2 lakh would be transferred to all the girls’ accounts when they would attain 21 years of age. The programme will also be attended by noted seer Sadhvi Ritambhara.

Earlier, Baba Ramdev had also announced a donation of Rs 2 crore for Vatsalya gram.
