SW monsoon advances, covers entire Karnataka and TN

South-west monsoon today advanced into Rayalseema, covered some more parts of Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Konkan.

South-west monsoon on Sunday advanced into Rayalseema, covered some more parts of Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Konkan. It has entirely covered the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Indian Meteorological Department said here on Sunday.

The monsoon has covered almost all parts of Telangana, the officials said adding they expected an increase in rainfall in the next two-three days.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Konkan and Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshwadeep and at few places in the region outside Tamil Nadu, they said.

Meanwhile, heat wave conditions prevailed over parts of north Rajasthan, North Gujarat and northwest Madhya Pradesh, IMD officials said.

The IMD officials expected the monsoon to make up and fill the water reservoirs which were left unfilled because of the poor monsoon last year.
