The swearing-in ceremony of the Zoramthanga-led Mizo National Front ministry was postponed by a "few hours" today due to agitation by Opposition parties demanding repoll in one assembly constituency, counting for which is yet to be taken up.
"The swearing-in ceremony has been postponed by a few hours due to a bandh call given by the opposition parties and we are trying to defuse the tension before holding the function," Mizoram Governor Amolak Rattan Kohli told PTI.
The governor said that he had spoken to Chief Minister- elect Zoramthanga and the swearing-in could take place once the situation was under control.
He said the swearing-in would "definitely take place later in the day".
The Zoramthanga-led MNF which had secured absolute majority in the November 20 assembly elections was scheduled to be sworn in at 11:00 am.
