The super actress is back on the scene..making waves at home with a hip-swinging dance on TV promos..and abroad, with her mesmerizing performance in The Namesake.
Once again, she has her loyalists rubbing their eyes with disbelief. Tabu, the actress of substance, is back on the tele-promos for a jhatka matka number in some movie titled The Challenge.
Now that must have been a challenge for her..to keep a straight face while moving legs and limbs to a lyric which goes as, Main deewani hoon..main hoon Laila. The movie had a different title earlier (you don’t want to know it was) and has been directed by the almost-forgotten K.C.Bokadia.
This challenging dance thing thang teams her up once again with Sunny Deol (sighted together before in Jeet, Himmat and Jaal: The Trap). Well..Tabs has always enjoyed doing the hippy hippy shake…and at times has carried it off, too, as in Ruk ruk ruk (Vijaypath) and Rang de (Takshak).
Still, our T has a dual personality. She’s superb especially in the high dramatic and serious films..and talk is that Mira Nair will pitch her The Namesake performance for an Oscar. Recently, Tabu flew in for a quick two-day stay at the Rome film festival where the Nair film was screened.
Problemo! Her baggage went missing at the airport. And so Tabu was styled in the hottest Italian Fendi outfits. At the premiere, the Italians went, “Taaaabu Taaaabu,” over her..and Fendi or no Fendi, she was an instant hit..and recognized all over Rome..even though in the film itself she wears only cotton saris from Bengal.
