+Congress owes an explanation to people as why the party high command could not be convinced by the state unit to influence S M Krishna government in Karnataka to reverse it stand on Paragodu+, senior TDP leader U Venkateswarlu told reporters here.

Instead of convincing the party high command to protect the state's interests, by advising the neighbouring state to stop the project, Congress has been adopting a negative stand and was averse to bring in the party president Sonia Gandhi's name into the controversy, he said.

Taking strong objection to Congress leader Dr Y S Rajsekhar Reddy's remarks accusing TDP of enancting a political drama on Paragodu issue, Venkateswarlu said, +they are irresponsible+.

Reiterating that Karnataka was blatantly violating Centre's directions on the Paragodu project, the senior TDP leader said, Congress should explain to people about their dual standards in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
