They were reacting to the alleged attack on members of the flying squad of the university by students of APN Degree College, Hariharpur in Khalilabad, They demanded that an FIR be lodged against the principal and the staff of the college.

The flying squad of the university teachers raided APN Degree College on April 27. The flying squad included Dr Vinod Kumar Gupta, Dr Shribhagwan and Dr Vijay Pratap Singh. The principal and the staff of the college, along with students, strongly opposed them and beat up the coordinator of the flying squad. They also kept the members of the flying squad in captivity for four hours.

Taking cognisance of the matter, a delegation of GUACTA reached the V-C’s residence and staged dharna. They demanded that the pro-V-C should come to negotiate. The pro V-C said the issue would be discussed in the examination committee meeting and if needed, the examination at the centre would be cancelled.

However, the members of GUACTA were not satisfied and said the members of the association had followed the directive of the university authorities, therefore, it was the duty of the university administration to lodge an FIR against the principal of the college. After arguments, the GUACTA members went on the rampage and tried to manhandle the pro V-C. The V-C was out of station. President of GUACTA Dr Kripa Shanker Singh, vice president Dr Bhagwan Singh and secretary Shreeshmani Tripathi said it was an attack on the teachers’ community. and termed the incident as a black chapter in the history of the university.

At loggerheads
UNIVERSITY AUTHORITIES and college administration of APN Degree College at Hariharpur are on a collision course. In view of the incident on April 27, the examination controller of the university had ordered the college administration that the examination at the centre scheduled on April 28 would be postponed and from April 29, all the examinations of the college would be held at HR PG College, Khalilabad. However, college administration did not follow the directive and held the examination at its own centre.

Meanwhile, shocked at the attitude of GUACTA members, Pro V-C Jaiprakash said raising slogans and damaging the furniture was against the dignity of teachers. He said the examination centre had already been changed.
