THE STATE government has identified four institutes to provide technical education to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students during the year 2006-07. Boarding and other modern facilities will be provided to them and new syllabus will also be introduced in these colleges.
The minister of state (independent charge) for higher education and technical education Tukaraoji Pawar said that a provision of Rs two crore had been made for the four polytechnic colleges of the state.
The minister said that government was making efforts to provide technical education to the SC, ST students of the state. He informed that four technical colleges including Government Polytechnic College, Jhabua and Government Women Polytechnic College, Mandla had been identified for ST students and provided sum of Rs 60 and 40 lakh respectively.
Similarly, Government Polytechnic College, Morena and Government Women Polytechnic, Sehore had been identified for SC students and a provision of Rs 67.86 and 32.14 lakh respectively had been made for these colleges.
The minister further said that new syllabus would be introduced in the colleges in the fields of electronics and communication engineering, computer science and engineering, fashion technology, multimedia and animation technology and modern office management for girl students.
The classrooms will be equipped with facilities like audio video visual communication, OHD (over head projectors), LCD projectors and close circuit TVs. Students and staff will also be provided 24-hour Internet facility and guesthouse facility in the campus for visitors.
Pawar said that ‘Language Laboratory’ would be established to study and practice English and other languages. The students will be provided free boarding and mess facility, besides indoor and outdoor games facilities. Students will get scholarship of Rs 1000 besides free books worth Rs 2000 for each semester.
Similarly, free stationery, drawing material and other related material worth Rs 2000 will be provided free to the students and incentives to teachers and staff will be given keeping in account their special efforts towards education of SC / ST students.
