Pacer Javed Khan has never played a domestic or international cricket tournament. But the 20-year-old bagged an Indian Premier League contract with the Mumbai Indians after he caught the attention of team captain Sachin Tendulkar.

Khan’s big moment came during a session at the nets before the final Test between India and Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium earlier this month. The pace and bounce of the net bowler had batsman Suresh Raina hopping. That’s when Tendulkar, who was practising nearby, took notice and lauded his ‘speed’.
