Tension in Gorakhpur
TENSION GRIPPED Kharadi Tola and Turkmanpur localities under Rajghat police station here on Tuesday after youths of two communities pelted one another with stones over a flag-hoisting dispute. Seniors of both communities intervened to prevent the situation from taking a turn for the worse. Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel were deployed in the area and police stepped up surveillance.

Sources said members of a particular community had hoisted green flags on bamboos, electricity and telephone poles to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet.
Two die in mishap
A TANKER crushed a man and his sister near Mohripur on Tuesday. Another youth was injured in the accident. Mahendra Gupta (30) and his sister Anita Gupta (22), died on the spot.
