Terrorists shoot down unarmed Army jawan

Police, assisted by security forces, have launched a massive hunt to nab those responsible for the killing, sources said.

An Army jawan was shot dead by terrorists near his house in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, official sources said.

Sepoy Rafiq Khan of the Territorial Army was shot at from point-blank range while he was on his way to his Balhama residence near Roohama Chowk in Baramulla district, the sources said.

Khan, who was unarmed as he was on leave, was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead, they said, adding that the deceased used to help troops in counter-insurgency operations before joining the Army.

Police, assisted by security forces, have launched a massive hunt to nab those responsible for the killing, they added.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
