Thousands bid tearful adieu to Srividya

Thousands of fans, filmstars and cultural personalities on Friday bade a tearful adieu to leading South Indian actress Srividya, who died on Thursday night after a long battle with cancer.

The mortal remains of the departed artiste were consigned to flames at the Brahmin Samajam crematorium in Thiruvananthapuram with full state honours.

The pyre was lit by her brother Sanakararaman.

Earlier in the day, thousands drawn from different walks of life paid their last respects to the actress, whose body was kept at the VJT Hall in the city for the public to pay homage.
