POLICE HAVE arrested three youths who had robbed a mobile phone, Rs 150 cash and two ATM cards from an engineering student, Ravikant Bargaiyan, on May 7.
The arrested youths include Vishal Chandani (19) of Vaishali Nagar, Vishal Chawla of Kotra and Azhar (30) of South T T Nagar. Both the Vishals work with the Bajaj Alliance Insurance Company while Azhar makes credit cards at the ICICI bank.
Police have recovered a Pulsar motorcycle (MP 04 NU 1971), a Passion motorcycle (MP 04 NU 1607), and the looted mobile phone from the possession of the culprits.
According to in-charge SP Dr G K Pathak, on the night of the incident the culprits robbed the youth because he had not given them side on the road, despite them honking several times.
The victim and the culprits were all driving motorcycles and the victim was talking on his mobile phone and did not allow the culprits to go past him despite them honking several times.
Enraged at that, the culprits stopped the victim at the Habibganj under bridge and robbed him. They threatened him to divulge his ATM password. Subsequently, they withdrew Rs 18,000 from Ravikant’s bank account.
