TIS: Will it discipline the commuters?

KANPURITES HAVE the dubious distinction of having the worst traffic sense and are infamous for violating traffic rules. To do away with the tag and infuse traffic sense among the masses, a Traffic Improvement Squad (TIS) has been proposed. The squad would comprise a DCM Toyota, a crane, a Maruti Gypsy and 10 constables.

Talking to the HT, ASP Rajesh Modak said, “The main objective of the squad will be to inculcate traffic sense among masses.” He said the squad would be active around the clock. “On-the-spot challans and seizures of vehicles are among the other important tasks to be assigned to the TIS,” stated Modak. The squad would not only be active on important roads of the city but other roads would also be covered by it.
