Employees of the trade tax department sat on a dharna in support of their demand for arrest of the lawyers responsible for the clash.

The cause of the clash is related to a dispute between the two groups over construction of a boundary wall on the campus.

Both sides got engaged in stone-pelting for an hour, causing injuries to advocates and trade tax employees. The makeshift offices of advocates (Chaukis) were ransacked in the incident. Trade tax employees went on dharna whereas advocates boycotted their work today.

The Trade Tax Bar officials lodged a named FIR with the Chetganj police station against the trade tax officers and employees whereas trade tax employees lodged a counter FIR.

Additional Commissioner of Trade Tax, Veer Bhan Singh said that Rashtriya Nirman Nigam which is constructing new buildings for the trade tax went for the construction of a boundary wall of the office but the advocates objected the construction work.

“On the complaint of Rashtriya Nirman Nigam, the trade tax employees went there to restore work but the advocates beat up one of his employees, Lalit Mohan Srivastava, and started stone-pelting on employees,” he said and added that trade tax administration has lodged an FIR against the advocates.

However, Trade Tax Bar Association president Sudhanshu Upadhyay alleged that the administration of trade tax was trying to evacuate places of advocates where they were working for the last 20 years.

He further alleged that trade tax employees had beaten up their colleague and in the incident, the advocate lost a sum of Rs 80,000 kept in a briefcase.

He said that advocates are fully prepared and would never allow the trade tax employees to succeed in their undesired intention.

The trade tax employees went on strike and staged a dharna outside the office today. Joint secretary of Trade Tax Ministerial Staff Association Rakesh Mohan Pandey and employee’s leader Rajesh Dubey said that trade tax employees were hell bent to launch a massive movement against the responsible persons. They
demanded arrest of the guilty advocates.
