The Nagar Nigam dug up this road to lay those pipes but due to slow pace of working, the work was still going and thereby traffic had been disrupted. The Chetganj Vikash Sangharsh Samiti imposed a ‘janata curfew’ on Lahurabeer-Beniabagh Road for two hours today. All business establishments were closed on this route. Samiti activists staged a chakka jam at Lahurabeer crossing. Normal traffic was thrown out of gear on Lahurabeer- Maidageen, Lahurabeer -Teliabagh and Maldahiya- Lahurabeer routes.
The speakers criticised the district administration for the slow pace of work.
They said the sewer system, cable connections of telephones and streetlights were also badly affected due to road digging.
They added the haphazard conditions of roads and pressure of traffic in the by-lanes of this route had provoked the local residents to protest against the situation. The speakers were demanding reconstruction of Lahurabeer -Beniabag Road and exemption from tax of a year levied on sewer, water and telephone.
