MEMBERS OF the Gorakhpur Udyog Vyapar Pratinidhi Mandal staged a dharna at the district magistrate’s office to express their anger against the insensitive attitude of the State Government towards them. They handed over a memorandum to be forwarded to the Governor. They demanded that textile and food park projects should be started at the GIDA.

Mandal State secretary Satyaprakash Singh Munna and city unit president Krishna Bihari Singh blamed the State Government for creating hindrances in establishment of a park. They said the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Government had failed to put a check on incidents of loot.

Mandal district president Sitaram Jaiswal expressed his concern over the proposed slaughterhouse in the city area and demanded that the proposal should be dropped in the public interest. He blamed political parties for trying to divert the people’s attention from the government’s failure.

Traders demanded filling up vacancies of professors at the BRD Medical College and doctors at district hospital to improve health services. They asked the government did not drop the proposal.
