The biggest problem in the Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency, according BSP candidate Mohammed Mustaqeem, is traffic congestion and parking. “Chandni Chowk is the biggest business centre of the city but the facilities are abysmal. The Azadpur Mandi, which also comes under this constituency, is also in a bad shape,” he said.
Mustaqeem claimed those elected before from the area have done nothing for Chandni Chowk and if elected, congestion is the first issue he would handle. “This is the first time I’m contesting elections because I want to do something for my area,” said Mustaqeem, also known as 'Ballo bhai'.
“I want to work for everyone in the constituency—Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians,” he said. “I would work not only for traders and residents of middle class colonies but also hawkers and those living in slums.”
Rampant illegal constructions and sealing are the other issues on Mustaqeem’s priority list of problems he wants to take up.
