A large number of people moving in the congested areas have to face hardships because of regular traffic jams and pollution caused by vehicular traffic.
What's more, even four wheelers enter into the congested areas causing huge traffic jams.
"With the rise in the mercury it really becomes difficult to wait for a long time for the jam to clear off", said Ajit Singh, a passer-by in Chowk area.
As the busy areas have the greatest concentration of people, the traffic regulation policy should be made stricter so as to check the jams, he added.
Not only this, the failure of the department in removing vehicles parked on the middle of the road in Johnstonganj have also caused great inconvenience to the passers-by.
Similar is the situation in Katra area where traffic jams are a daily routine. "Often the vehicles are parked on wrong side of the road due to which the pedestrians as well as the vehicular traffic have to face problems and sometimes it even becomes a cause for road accidents", said Avinash, a resident of Katra.
When contacted CO (Traffic) Arvind Mishra said, "Efforts are being made to regulate the traffic in congested areas".
We are planning to install barriers at Manmoham Park and University Road so as to prohibit the entry of four wheelers in the market area in Katra . And these vehicles will then be made to park in the parking zone provided near Manmohan Park and Lakshmi Talkies, added Mishra.
Besides, to manage the traffic in busy areas including Johnstonganj a rule will be enforced in near future where slow moving vehicles will be made to move on left side of the road and fast moving vehicle on the right side, said he.
"In the present situation also where ever there is traffic jam the department at once goes for traffic action plan under which the traffic is diverted, thus clearing the jam". added CO (Traffic).
