SN Shrivastava, joint commissioner of police (traffic), said one of the steps taken was to increase check on commercial vehicles entering no entry zones. “We have also seized old vehicles that were not road-worthy and launched a drive against vehicles parked in no parking areas in market areas,” he said.
Shrivastava said the drive is showing results. “There is a visible drop in the number of traffic jam calls,” he said.
Between October 1 and October 15, the traffic control room received an average of 23 traffic jam calls everyday. Between October 16 and 23, this number has come down to 13.
