Around 10 men laced with fire-arms boarded the train at Manoharpur in the district and went into a looting spree soon after the train left Chakradharpur station on Tuesday night, GRP sources said.

At least six passengers travelling in the general compartment sustained minor injuries including one stab injury when they resisted the looters, SP (GRP) Mritunjay Kumar said.

The robbers got down at Rajkharswan station after looting away Rs 50,000 cash and five mobile phones. No RPF personnel were present in the compartment when the incident took place, he added.

Meanwhile, the victims have lodged a case in this regard after protesting at Tatanagar station in Jamshedpur.

Raids are on to track down the culprits, Tatanagar station GRP Officer-in-charge Laxman Prasad said.
