State PWD officials said 403 roads have been restored temporarily though 22 major roads are in precarious condition.
“Normalising road communication will cost us R250crore and a year’s time. Apart from bridges, we have lost 80 suspension and pedestrian bridges,” PWD chief engineer, Lalit Mohan said.
He added that PWD men were working round the clock for restoring connectivity. The BRO too expects two-three to restore a major bridge (Kund) on river Alakananda and three vital roads it maintains. These roads – Rudraprayag-Gaurikund, Karnprayag-Gawldam and Joshimath and Badrinath – are badly damaged.
