Transport strike hits normal life in Tripura

Life was badly affected in Tripura on Tuesday as the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-backed trade unions called a dawn-to-dusk transport strike to protest against the fuel price hike.

Buses and private vehicles went off the roads. Attendance in government offices, banks and educational institutions was poor.

However, vehicles engaged in essential services like milk supply were exempted from the strike.
