A Trinamool Congress supporter was on Monday killed at Mahespur village in Birbhum district, police said.

Apu Sarkar (42) was stabbed with sharp weapons by some persons near the village bus stand at around 5 pm, they said, adding he died on way to hospital.

Trinamool Congress alleged that Sarkar was killed by miscreants backed by the CPI(M).

Locals said Sarkar was staying in Bolpur for last few months following clashes between the TC and CPI(M) in Labhpur area and recently he had returned to his home in Labhpur.

The CPI(M) denied the allegations by Trinamool.
