Demonstrators took to the streets after security forces allegedly picked up several youth from the town. Locals also accused the police and the CRPF of harassing residents.

The deceased student has been identified as Irfan Ahmad.

In Srinagar, capital of Kashmir, 80 km away from Baramulla, tension is brewing ahead of separatists call for formation of a human chain from the Lower Court premises in Lal Chowk to High Court complex Jahangir Chowk on Monday.

Protests have been called against landing of Indian forces in Kashmir on October 27, 1947.
