TAKING SERIOUS note of the ongoing groupism in the district unit of the party, the national executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday sent national general secretary Sanjay Joshi to resolve the crisis.

The urgency to resolve the crisis in the city, which used to be a saffron bastion, could be gauged from the fact that his visit was described as private affair and not disclosed to the media.

According to party sources, Joshi arrived here at 10 am and visited the houses of party workers and senior leaders to ascertain the reasons behind the factionalism in the party and its debacle in the elections.

According to a senior party leader, Joshi visited the residences of former MP Jagat Veer Singh Drone, party’s candidate in the last Lok Sabha elections Satydeo Pauchari, former MLA Babu Ram Shukla, former district president Shyam Babu Gupta and district president (North) Rakesh Sonkar and senior party leader Diwakar Mishra.

Joshi also visited the house of party’s district president (South) Radhey Shyam Pandey, Satish Sharma, Kaushal Kishore Dixit and Gopal Awasthi.

Later, Joshi held discussions with the party leaders to ascertain the reasons for party’s loss in the last Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in the city. He also solicited reasons from the party leaders to overcome the crisis and consolidate party’s position in the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in the State due next year.

The meeting of Joshi with party leaders continued till late in the evening.
