55-year-old Rao, whose indefinite fast for creation of a separate Telengana state entered the 11th day, is "refusing intravenous antibiotics, saline, glucose and any other supporting therapy," doctors at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad said.

"He is not cooperating and has refused to undergo a blood test. He is weak but conscious and is talking. He should resume oral feed as his health condition is deteriorating," they said in the bulletin.

Senior TRS MLA and Rao's nephew T Harish Rao besides party leaders and family members had urged Rao to break the fast but he has consistently refused.

He has also refused to take medicines and that was complicating the situation as he has not not taken solids for over a week, TRS senior leader Nayini Narasimha Reddy said on Tuesday.
