Jaimal Singh, a sub-inspector of the para-military force's 164th battalion, allegedly committed suicide last night as he shot himself with his service rifle inside a camp at Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district, official sources said on Tuesday.

Less than 24 hours after the incident, a CRPF jawan named Raju allegedly ended his life this afternoon, shooting himself with his service rifle while on duty in Ghrota area at the outskirts of Jammu city, official sources said.

On hearing the shot, his colleagues rushed to the spot and took him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, they said, adding that the reason behind his taking the extreme step was not yet known.

CRPF authorities have ordered inquiries into the alleged suicide incidents which appear to be on the rise in the para-military force as yet another jawan committed suicide in the Kashmir valley on February 6.
