Two gangs of electric wire thieves nabbed

THE RECENT rounding-up of two different gangs of thieves stealing electric wire from two different areas of the City has come as a big relief for MPEB.

According to Lasurliya police, information was received from CSP Jitendra Singh about movement of a gang stealing MPEB material, acting on which police station incharge Daulat Singh sent a team for investigation. Four accused including two different gang members and a ‘kabadiwala’ have been arrested.

Those arrested include a cable cutting gang member Kalu, (while four of his accomplices Prakash and Gappu Banjara and Raju and Rinku managed to escape), DP and aluminium wire cutting gang members Raju alias Rajesh and Sukhdev Balai and ‘kabadiwala’ Mulchand Teli. The accused were arrested from near Pipliyakumar village.

The accused admitted to having committed several electricity related thefts including a major one near Niranjanpur Square. Goods including 32 coils and 270 kg DP and aluminium wires worth Rs 3 lakh were recovered from their possession.

The accused have been booked under Sections 379, 427 and 411 of the IPC. In another incident Khurail police booked Nitin Pathrod of Dublechowki and Mohammed Ismail of Juni Indore for a similar crime.

The Annapurna police had arrested the accused yesterday evening while they were transporting 7.5 quintal of aluminium coil in an auto rickshaw. It was learnt that the coil had been issued under ST Line construction work by the MPEB to a contractor for completing works near village Buraliya from where the accused stole the wires.

Ismail who was driving the auto rickshaw has been jailed and Pathrod has been booked under Section 379 of the IPC.
