Two held in Mumbai with foreign made weapons

Two persons, including a cloth dealer, have been arrested for illegally possessing weapons in separate cases in Mumbai.

Two persons, including a cloth dealer, have been arrested for illegally possessing weapons in separate cases in Mumbai, police said on Saturday.

The duo was allegedly carrying foreign made pistols and eight cartridges, police said, they were apprehended during combing operation.

Abhit Abdul Rehman Shaikh (38), a resident of Nagpada in South Mumbai, was found moving in suspicious manner near Natraj studio on Friday. Police intercepted him on the basis of a tip off.

"The police recovered five cartridges and a made in China pistol from him," an official of Andheri police station said.

In another incident, cloth dealer Aslam Sattar (36), also resident of Nagpada, was found in possession of foreign made pistol and three cartridges at suburban Andheri, they said.
