Two persons were run over and killed by trains in lower Assam's Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon districts respectively in the last three days, official sources said on Thursday.

A village defence party (VDP) volunteer, Sikander Ali Sheikh (45), was run over by the Guwahati-Delhi NE Express last afternoon, when he was keeping vigil on railway tracks on a bridge over river Sankosh in Kokrajhar district, the sources said.

The day before another person, Biren Roy (35), was also knocked down and killed on the spot by a Bongaigaon-Guwahati passenger train when he was trying to cross the rail tracks at Singuri in neighbouring Bongaigaon district on Wednesday.
