Two wanted criminals arrested
The crime branch of Sector 46, on Thursday, arrested two persons for allegedly killing the president of the student’s union of Kurukshetra University and for three other murder cases.

The accused, Ashok alias Shoki, and Naresh were arrested from Sector 56. The police also recovered weapons and cartridges from their possession.
Ashok, 26, was wanted by the Haryana police in four murder cases and carried a cash prize of R50,000 on his head. He was also involved in several cases of theft, drugs smuggling and extortion in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
DCP (crime) Maheshwar Dayal said five persons allegedly killed Virender Singh, president of the student’s union of Kurukshetra University.
“The gang of five shot dead Virender Singh on October 17 last year. While Tangu and Inderjeet were arrested last month, three accused were on the run. With the arrest of Ashok and Naresh, only one accused is left,” he added.
“Besides killing Virender Singh, the accused also killed Jogendra, resident of Dhamtan village of Kurukshetra, Subhash, sarpanch of Mangal Kha Puthhi in Hansi (Hisar), and Surender, resident of Kaithal. He escaped from Kalayat after a live encounter with Kaithal police in February 2012. Ashok is the shooter of Vijay gang and wanted 10 cases of murder,” said ACP Rajesh Phogat.
