Two-year-old boy falls into borewell, dies

A two-year-old boy met with a tragic death by falling into borewell pit. The accident took place at Dhainal Vasti near Chittali village in Pathardi taluk.

A two-year-old boy met with a tragic death by falling into borewell pit. The accident took place at Dhainal Vasti near Chittali village in Pathardi taluk.

It took about three hours to take the boy out of the pit and he was immediately taken to the hospital but he found dead before treatment.

Police told PTI on Sunday that the boy Saurabh Dhamal is the only child of his parents. He fell into the borewell pit near his house Saturday noon while playing with his friends. The boys informed about this to the boy's mother and immediately people gathered at the borewell. Police were informed.

A parallel pit to the borewell was dug and a horizantal cut was made. The boy was taken out safely but the delay caused in rescuing the child and suffocation could have caused his death, police said.

This has once more underlined the necessity to keep such pits of borewells closed with a lid or fill them if not in use.
