UDF leaders would meet Chief Minister V S Achuthanadan in a day or two with a demand for early sanction to prosecute Vijyan in the case, UDF convenor P P Thankachan told reporters after a meeting of the Front.

“UDF would launch an agitation if the governemnt delayed sanction. As a first phase of the stir, the UDF would hold a torch light procession on panchayat level on February 27,” he said.

CBI, which investigated the Lavalin case, had sought permission from the Governor to arraign Vijayan as an accused in the case connected with alleged irregularities in awarding of contract to Canadian firm SNC Lavalin for modernising three-hydro electric projects in mid 1990’s when Vijayn was the power minister.

Criticising the ‘Nava Kerala March´ led by Vijayan, he alleged CPI-M was misusing government machinery for party activities.
